    Quick Answer

How do I look up a court case in Ingham County?

Start with MiCOURT Case Search (micourt.courts.michigan.gov), the free statewide search for participating Michigan courts, and search by name or case number. If Ingham County's court is not listed or nothing shows up, use the court's own website (https://cc.ingham.org/) or call the clerk. Divorce, custody and felony cases are in circuit court; small claims, evictions, traffic and misdemeanors are in district court; estates and guardianships are in probate court.

Which Ingham County court has my case?

Michigan courts split cases by type. Searching the right court saves time.

    • Circuit court: divorce, custody, support, PPOs, felonies, civil claims over $25,000
    • District court: small claims (up to $7,000), evictions, traffic, misdemeanors, civil claims up to $25,000
    • Probate court: estates, wills, guardianships and conservatorships

    Ingham County 30th Circuit Court

313 W Kalamazoo St, Lansing, MI 48933. Phone (517) 483-6500. Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Website: https://cc.ingham.org/. Ingham County hears many cases involving state agencies because Lansing is the state capital. Family Division matters are split between the Lansing and Mason facilities — confirm which location your hearing is assigned to.

    • Divorce, custody, parenting time, and support
    • Personal protection orders
    • Civil claims over $25,000 and claims against the State of Michigan
    • Name changes

What you can and can't see online

Online searches usually show the parties, case number, filing dates, hearings and a list of what was filed. Many courts don't post the documents themselves.

    • Juvenile, adoption, sealed and set-aside (expunged) records are never shown publicly
    • Personal details like Social Security numbers are hidden
    • An empty result doesn't always mean no case exists — the court may not be on MiCOURT

How to get copies or certified copies

Ask the clerk of the Ingham County court that handled the case. Bring the case number and a photo ID, or request copies by mail if the court allows it. Courts charge a per-page fee, plus a certification fee for certified copies. Call ahead to confirm fees and hours.
