The 21-Day Deadline
MCR 3.215(E)(4) and MCL 552.507 give either party 21 days from the mailing of the referee recommendation to file a written objection.
If you disagree with a FOC referee's recommendation, you have 21 days to object and request a de novo hearing before the judge.

Objection to Referee Recommendation, a notice of hearing (some counties require it, others set the date automatically), and proof of service on the other party and the FOC.
The judge reviews the objection fresh — new evidence and testimony are usually allowed under MCL 552.507(4). Prepare exhibits, witnesses, and a concise argument focused on the child's best interests.
